The Koraput Police has advised people to maintain caution and not to venture near the areas sporting Maoist posters. The warning comes close on the heels of intelligence inputs about increasing Maoist activities in the Red belt of Odisha ahead of the elections to the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions.
After killing two persons in a span of just a week, the Maoists have again put up posters in Kandhamal district threatening locals to boycott the forthcoming Panchayat polls.
The handwritten notes warned people not to venture into forests as bombs and land mines have been planted at many places.
