Argentina scripted a narrow win over France in the first semifinal to make it to the final of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men's Junior World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Mighty Netherlands (popularly known as Oranjes) rode on splendid hat-tricks by Luke Dommershuijzen (4th, 14th and 34th minutes) and Miles Bukkens (3rd, 38th and 60th minutes) to maul Malaysia 9-3 in a 5th-8th place match of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
In the case of any sporting event between India and Pakistan, it is not just competition but a rivalry that always goes down the books by producing some memorable encounters in history. Despite this hostility, love and friendship between the neighbours is always a joy to watch.
According to a member of the local organising committee, the person who tested positive is a social media team member of Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Odisha government.
Netherlands started on a strong note after the change of ends and secured four penalty corners in quick time but the Argentine defence stood tall to thwart the dangers.
The result means South Africa will face Pakistan in the next match as they contest 9-12 place. Canada will play continental neighbours the USA as they seek a first win of the tournament.
The quarterfinal against Belgium will be a re-match of last edition's final where India beat the European side 2-1 to claim the title under Harendra Singh in Lukcnow in 2016.
FIH will keep monitoring the situation and take a decision about the potential staging of the 2021 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup as soon as it will be possible to do so, the report said.
Pakistan have a controversial history of playing in Bhubaneswar and the local hockey fans still remember the aggressive and obscene behaviour of the Pakistan senior team members after their win against hosts India in the 2014 Champions Trophy at the Kalinga Stadium.
