A ceasefire between Israel and the militant organisation Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the Gaza Strip came into force at around Sunday midnight, after both sides confirmed they agreed to it.
The airstrikes, declared as the Breaking Dawn operation, were launched against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), an Islamist organization active in Gaza, to "eliminate" what the Israeli military called "the threat to the citizens of Israel", Xinhua news agency reported.
"Hamas takes responsibility for everything that happens in the Gaza Strip," said the statement from COGAT.
Shireen Abu Akleh, a well-known Palestinian female reporter for the broadcaster's Arabic language channel, was shot and died soon afterward. Ali Samoudi, another Palestinian journalist, was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the back.
Israel, he said, would consider it "a great honour" to host possible talks between the Russian and Ukrainian heads of state.
The shooting was the fourth deadly attack in Israel in the span of fewer than three weeks, during which a total of 13 people were killed in the country.
Following the infection, the ministry called for adherence to routine vaccinations at the recommended times and the completion of vaccinations for those who have not yet done so.
