Musk tweeted last week that the microblogging site is working on a solution to automatically convert long-form text into threads.

Musk also claimed that Twitter is now actively hiring for positions in engineering and sales, reports The Verge.

Former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account was reinstated Saturday. Trump’s suspended account was restored in the micro blogging platform after a poll by its new owner Elon Musk. A majority of voters supported the move to welcome back Trump to the Twitter after a 24-hour Twitter poll.

Musk tweeted: "The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated."

"Anyone who actually writes software, please report to the 10th floor at 2 p.m. today," Musk said in the email on Friday.

The new Twitter CEO reinstated the accounts belonging to Kathy Griffin, Jordan Peterson and the conservative satire site The Babylon Bee.

Several employees took to Twitter to announce their resignations ahead of the 5 p.m. Thursday deadline (US time) to meet Musk's new work criteria.

A few people have complained recently about posting and reading threads with more than a few tweets -- the one in focus was an 82-tweet-long thread on the fallen cryptocurrency exchange FTX, according to the report.

The update though is currently available only on iPhones. The service is expected to be available for all in the coming days.

The company has already started testing Twitter Blue subscription plan for Apple iOS users, which provides verification and other benefits.

Company sources confirmed the layoffs were done as part of cost-cutting measures as well as to tackle redundancies in certain roles across verticals.

The feature will be like Twitter Notes where people will be able to post longer tweets than the current 280-character limit.

The updated app displayed a redesigned notifications page with tweets from verified users by default appearing in the first tab.

According to media reports, on Friday Twitter laid off thousands of employees in departments across the company as part of an aggressive plan to trim costs.
