Durga puja in the Cuttack city is famous for umpteen reasons. However, one lesser known fact, which has been a part of the century-old tradition associated with Durga Puja, is the use of flags during the immersion ceremony.

Though it is a 10-day festival, the actual Puja revelry usually begins on Shashthi and lasts till Dashami.
Puja magazines like Teera Taranga, Lekhalekhi, Sudhanya, Mousumi, Bhanjadipa, Kanakaprabham Sahityara Swara, Akhyansha, Rebati, Amrutayana, Satabhisha, Agami Satabdi, Katha Kalika, Sahitya Darpana, Sahitya Charcha have arrived at the stalls so far.
During the auspicious period of Navratri, people observe austere measures like fasting and worshipping of the Goddess to obtain the grace of the all-feminine power.
Preparations for Durga Puja are in full swing as festival inches further closer. Artisans across the country are busy giving finishing touches to idols of Maa Durga that will be installed at various puja pandals. For them, designing and moulding the clay statues with finesse is the only and best way available to them to express the grandeur of Goddess.
