In a bid to avoid congestion, the Orissa High Court on Thursday ordered not to construct gates on roads in the Cuttack city during the upcoming Dussehra festival.

Hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) about the problems of Cuttack City, the Court expressed dissatisfaction over the poor condition of the roads. In response, the Secretary of the Work Department assured that the road repair work in the city will be completed by October 5. 

Meanwhile, the Court has also ordered to solve the issue pertaining to the protest by the Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA) through mutual discussion. The next hearing on the matter has been scheduled for October 3.

Earlier, the Orissa High Court had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cuttack to file an affidavit mentioning the steps taken by it to prevent noise pollution in the city of Cuttack during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities.
