Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas has now weakened into a severe cyclonic storm. As per the latest update of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), at around 12:30 PM, Yaas remained centred over north coastal Odisha about 15 km west southwest of Balasore.

Cyclone Yaas is likely to make landfall a few kilometres north of Dhamra region on May 26 morning.

Currently, Cyclone Yaas is having marginally unfavorable vertical wind shear. However, just prior to landfall, wind shear will turn supportive and Yaas to attain peak intensity
