The probe agency has arrested Samir Sheikh -- the father-in-law of one of the prime accused, Lalan Sheikh who is still absconding. The CBI officials will present him at the court on Monday.

The killings took place on March 21 in Bogtui village, where nine persons including the Vadu Sheikh died.

After the Calcutta High Court order of handing over the probe to the CBI, the West Bengal government said that it would support the agency in conducting a fair probe.

The case was registered based on a complaint from Bank of Baroda Cuttack in Odisha, the CBI said in a press statement.

The company allegedly caused undue and wrongful losses to Punjab National Bank/ Indian Bank to the tune of Rs 140.48 crore with interest as on September 30, 2021, and corresponding wrongful gain to accused persons, the CBI said in a statement.

The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted multiple raids across Odisha in connection with online child sexual abuse cases. The CBI officials conducted raids at Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts on Tuesday (November 16). As per reports, the CBI conducted searches on house of Manoranjan Das in Agarpada area of Bhadrak district.

The CVC (Amendment) Ordinance and the Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Act Ordinance were issued to allow extension of tenure of the Directors of the CBI and the ED ahead of upcoming winter session of the Parliament.
