Sisodia's accusation came as he faced a fresh salvo from the BJP on the excise policy row, with the party releasing a "sting operation" video that purportedly showed the father of a liquor scam accused claiming to have paid "commission" to acquire liquor licences in Delhi. Sisodia, however, called the video a "joke".

Sisodia is among the 15 people and entities named in an FIR registered by the agency in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of Delhi govt's Excise Policy 2021-22.

Bhattacharya, the former President of West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE), had been ducking the summons from both the agencies for some time now and is currently absconding.

The arrested person was identified as Pradip Singh and according to CBI sources, he acted as a middleman between the scamsters and the candidates.

A 12-member CBI team raided the NBU vice-chancellor's office in Siliguri, the largest town in the northern part of the state.

The CBI registered a case against Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters and 15 others, including unknown public servants and private persons.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday arrested a Lieutenant Colonel and a Subedar Major, both attached to Military Engineering Service (MES), Ambala Cantt, along with two private contractors in alleged bribery case of Rs 22.48 lakh.

The allegations against Sisodia is that liquor businessmen were allegedly given exemption of Rs 30 crore.

CBI said Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia along with few liquor barrons were actively involved in managing and diverting the undue pecuniary advantage collected from liquor licensees to accused public servants

The CBI has registered an FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in formulation and execution of Delhi Excise Policy brought in November last year, they said.

Both were named in the FIR filed by CBI before starting its investigation in the matter.

The first link, according to CBI sources, is the timing of the posting of Kumar, as commandant of BSF's 36th battalion at the Indo- Bangladesh borders in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, traditionally considered as the epicentre of cross- border cattle smuggling in smuggling in West Bengal.

CPI-M central committee member and the former leader of Left parties in West Bengal assembly, Sujan Chakraborty said that it is a welcome move that through being late, CBI has finally arrested Mandal.

The court also rejected the bail plea of other two accused-Debapriya Mohanty and Sumanta Rout. However, the court granted bail to builder Sisir Dash and refused to extend the remand period sought by the probing agency.

Though the state government and police had assured to find out the complainant’s daughter, both parties have failed to keep their words.
