Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the head coach of the senior Indian men's cricket team, said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday.

The T20 clash between India and Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup scheduled for October 24 should be cancelled, say senior leaders amid ongoing tension with the border nation.

"This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that fans have been memorialised on a jersey. It carries their chants and cheers from iconic past matches, transformed into unique soundwave patterns," stated a release from ML Sports.

Former India captain MS Dhoni will not be taking any fees for his role as the mentor of the Indian cricket team during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

A BCCI official had told IANS that there will be no change in the squad unless someone is injured. It is believed that the physios are keeping a close watch on Varun Chakravarthy and Pandya fitness.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Monday announced that the board will increase the match fees for domestic cricketers. Shah, who attended the BCCI Apex Council Meet, also said that the cricketers who played in 2019/20 season will get additional 50 per cent fee for the curtailed 2020/21 season.

BCCI on Wednesday (September 8) announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in UAE and Oman in October-November. The main squad comprises 15 players while there are three standbyes. Interestingly, Ravichandran Ashwin has made a comeback to the Indian team in white-ball cricket after four years. Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar have been named reserves. The biggest surprise for cricket fans is MS Dhoni has been roped in by the BCCI as team India mentor for T20 World Cup.

The 46-year-old retired wicket-keeper, who served as the chief national selector from 2016 to 2020, was also delighted with the decision to include MS Dhoni in the squad as team's mentor with head coach Ravi Shastri as MSK felt the former India captain knows everyone in the team.

The two new franchises are expected to participate in IPL 2022. The talks of new franchises have been on for a few months now.

The IPL, which is currently an eight-team tournament, will become a 10-team affair from the next edition.

In an advertisement on its website, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said it is inviting candidates to apply for the position of Head of Cricket at NCA. Dravid can also reapply for the position, the tenure of which is two years.
