Balasore horror: Man beheads wife after domestic quarrel, police launch manhunt
A domestic quarrel in Odisha’s Balasore district ended in a gruesome tragedy when a man allegedly beheaded his wife with a sharp weapon.
The shocking incident occurred late Thursday night at Chakuapal village under Raibania police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Jayanti, while the accused is her husband, Chandra Mohan Patra.
According to sources, the couple got into a heated argument over a domestic issue, during which Chandra Mohan allegedly attacked his wife in a fit of rage. He struck her with a sharp weapon, completely severing her head from her body. Jayanti died on the spot.
After committing the crime, the accused fled, prompting police to launch a manhunt. Search operations are underway to nab him.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Jaleswar SDPO reached the spot and began an investigation. Forensic teams were also expected to assist in gathering evidence from the crime scene at the time of reporting.
The brutal killing has shocked residents of the area, who described the incident as “unbelievable” and beyond comprehension. Police sources said the motive behind the quarrel is being probed, while efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused.
