Man-eater leopard shot dead

The 13 year-old leopard was shot dead in the jungles near Ritholi village of the area on Sunday by a hunter Lakhpat Singh Rawat, who was hired by the forest department, they said.

The leopard had killed two girls in the last one month in the area. On February 8, it had devoured six year-old Bhuwana of Panai village while it mauled Neetu Sagoi (5) of Sunder village on March one prompting the forest department to issue orders of its killing.

A postmortem of the leopard has established that it was a man-eater. This is the second man-eating leopard which has been killed by the forest department within a week. Another man-eater was shot dead in Bhilangana area of Tehri district on February 29.
