Indore: A female bear fled from the Indore Zoo late on Friday night after breaking a cage, officials said on Saturday.

The bear which had turned furious hurt a watchman at Sanskriti campus here and also tried to enter a hut in which a family was sleeping but they escaped unhurt, they said.

A search team of the Zoo department was looking out for the animal.

The animal was brought to the zoo from Bilaspur for rehabilitation.

The bear was later caught after a tranquiliser shot administered to it in the forest area, and shifted back to the zoo in a cage, an official said.
