Cuttack: Agitated Youth Congress workers on Monday barged into the office of Cuttack district collector here breaking the police cordon when no official turned up to receive a memorandum that was addressed to the governor.

A large number of Congress activists had gathered in front of the Collectorate to hand over the memorandum to the district collector alleging that Naveen Patnaik government has no moral propriety to continue as it is engrossed in corruption activities.

Led by the party's city president Md Moquim, the Youth Congress workers were protesting against what they called 'mis-governance' in the State.

But when no official turned up to receive the memorandum, the agitated Congress workers broke the police cordon and marched into the office of the collector triggering a scuffle with the police. Some flower pots in the office were broken while police alleged that the Congress workers ransacked the office.

"Not a single official came to receive our memorandum and, as a result, the commotion took place," said Moquim alleging that not a single district-level official was present in the Collectorate even as the day is the first working day of the week.

Situation, however, was brought to normal when a deputy collector-level official came and received the memorandum.
