Bhubaneswar: The Jagatsinghpur district administration appears to be inching closer to make the long –awaited Posco project a reality after it started the trench cutting work at the proposed plant site in Gobindpur village on Thursday.

The officials engaged in the work started the trench cutting for construction of boundary wall at Patnahat and Mangalapada areas of Govindpur.

Despite stiff resistance from the anti-Posco brigade, the district administration engaged excavating machineries to continue the work before it was stopped due to intense heat wave conditions.

Meanwhile, members of the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti, which has been spearheading a movement against the country’s single largest FDI venture in the area threatened to move the Orissa High Court against the recent activities of the administration.

“We’ll appeal the High Court to put a stay on the trench cutting work of the government. We’ll not allow the officials to continue work here,” said a samiti member.

On Monday, the district administration had drawn demarcation line of the boundary wall of the proposed steel project at Gobindapur village.
