Nayagrah: Seven persons died, including six matric examinees, and five others were jured in a road mishap when a van carrying 11 matric examinees collided head-on with a truck near Sampada on National Highway-57 today morning. Five persons including the driver of the van died on the accident site while one girl student succumbed to her injuries in the Nayagarh district headquarter hospital. Five injured students were later shifted to Bhubaneswar while another matric examinee Pratap Mohanty died on the way to the hospital for treatment.

The victims have been identified as Babu Baral, Ropali Bhuyan, Golakh Pradhan, Jyotsnarani Pradhan and Pinky Tripathy, all students of the Chintamani High School near Khandapara and Bulu Panda, the driver of the van. The accident occured when the van carrying 11 matric examinees was returning from Nuagaon.
