Sisters meet watery grave in Nuapada

Nuapada: Two sisters were killed after drowning while taking bath in a pond at Nuapada village under Khariar police limits of the district today.

The mishap occurred while the duo, Sheetal Baghel (19) and Tanisa Baghel (13) had gone to their village pond to take bath along with their grandmother.

The two girls accidentally slipped into deep water while their grandmother was at the shore of the pond. Despite attempts to save the drowning girls, she could not rescue them.

Later, with the help of some local residents, the bodies of the girls were fished out of the pond.

According to information from family members, the two sisters were staying in Raipur of Chhattisgarh and had visited the maternal uncle’s house in Nuapada yesterday.
