The campaign will be jointly undertaken by Commissionerate Police, Odisha Police, Forum for Smart Citizens and Bharat Scouts and Guides.

According to police sources, a campaign will be organised to curb road accidents in the city by creating awareness on road safety among the residents.

"The Forum for Smart Citizens is a smart city concept which is being implemented in various smart cities. It is a relevant programme as people need to be involved in traffic regulation. The forum is already taking the initiative in this regard. Also, smart traffic signal system and e-challan are being implemented at various places in the city," said Odisha Police DG, RP Sharma.

Convener of the Forum for Smart Citizens, Bijay Patnaik said "This concept is being implemented in various countries. People have come forward voluntarily to implement this programme as they have realised that traffic regulation and road safety are not solely the responsibility of the police."
