Bhubaneswar: As a sign of noble gesture, helping hands came forward to render financial assistance to Chandrasekhar Sahoo, a meritorious student from Bolangir, whose future was seemingly slipping into darkness due to paucity of funds.

The support came after a news report was telecast on Odisha Television (OTV) yesterday.

Dusasan Swain, a renowned social worker from Khurda and Surama Satpathy, a resident of Bhubaneswar, have donated Rs 10,000 each to Sahoo. In addition to it, Padhee’s Tutorial, a private coaching institute, has come forward to provide medical entrance coaching to Chandrasekhar, thus, helping him realize his dreams.

“His father’s tearful appeal prompted me to come forward and help the student out. If his father willingly hands over the responsibility of the child, I am eager to shoulder his responsibilities till his education is complete,” social worker Dusasan Swain said.

“We would provide him everything free of cost. He will attend classes, get study materials and interact with teachers any time he need,” Padhee Tutorial Chairman Janaki Ballav Padhee said.

Sahoo, a C.B.S.E student, has done a praiseworthy job in the recently ended Senior Secondary Examination by scoring 95.2 percent of marks, has also secured 900th rank in OJEE medical entrance examination.

But being a daily wage earner’s son, he could not get his mark sheet and certificates from school as he had not cleared his dues due to lack of money. He was also apprehensive about his pursuing higher studies and fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor.

However, Sahoo can now heave a sigh of relief as noble people have come forward to lend him a helping hand to further his career.

“I owe a high sense of gratitude to all the people who have come forward to extend me help. I also thank OTV due to whose efforts this would have not been possible,” Chandrasekhar said.
