Bhubaneswar: Swine flu has resurfaced in Odisha with detection of H1N1 virus in a young woman undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, official sources said here on Sunday.

"The blood sample of a woman patient sent to us from a private hospital at Bhubaneswar was found positive for swine flu virus during laboratory test," Director of Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), S K Kar said.

This was the first swine flu case detected in Odisha this year, he said adding reports in this regard had been sent to the state government as well as Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The state government has sent a team of doctors and other personnel to the 22-year-old woman patient`s native place as well as the treatment centre for further steps, a senior health department official said.

Necessary steps are being taken as per the central government`s prescribed protocol in order to prevent spread of the disease, he said adding there is no need for panic and the state is fully prepared to deal with any situation. The state drug unit has sufficient Tamiflu, the medicine for influenza A virus, he said.
