Berhampur: Amid rising fuel prices and hue and cry over global warming, a student of Berhampur government ITI, Aditya Behera has developed a battery-operated bicycle which can run for 20 kilometres after just 3 hours of charging.

Aditya, who pursues fitter course at the ITI, got inspiration for developing the bicycle by watching YouTube videos. With assistance of a senior instructor at the college, Aditya was able to develop the bicycle.

"Considering the rising fuel prices and high pollution levels and driving restriction for minors, I decided to develop the bicycle," said Aditya.

Speaking about the battery operated bicycle, ITI instructor Gorachand Sahu said, "This is a unique innovation. It will be difficult to get petrol and diesel in the future, so this bicycle will be very useful."
