Bhubaneswar: Justice P K Patra, Lokpal of Odisha, passed away on Tuesday evening after brief illness. He was 72.
Justice Patra was survived by wife, three sons and two daughters, family sources said.
Justice Patra who was undergoing treatment at S C B Medical Collage in Cuttack breathed his last on Tuesday evening.
Justice Patra, a former judge of Orissa High Court was appointed as the Lokpal in 2008 and continued in the post till his last. He was judge in Orissa High Court from 1999 to 2002.
Born at Badasuja village in Bolangir district, Justice Patra was also heading the commission of Inquiry on Ganjam hooch tragedy where about 30 people were killed.
He had already submitted the final report before he was appointed as Lokpal.
People from legal fraternity paid their tribute to Justice Patra at his residence in Cuttack.
