OAS suspension: SAT serves show-cause notice to Odisha government
Bhubaneswar: The State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) on Friday issued a notice to Odisha government in connection with the suspension of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Deba Prasad Dash.
In an order, the SAT sought for the disciplinary file which resulted in the suspension of Dash as a part of the departmental disciplinary action.
Dash who was working as a joint secretary at the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) was placed under suspension by Odisha government on May 28.
Dash has been asked by the General Administration (GA) department to stay in his headquarters, Cuttack, during the period of suspension. Without the permission of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central, Dash cannot leave the headquarters.
The next hearing of the case has been posted to the last week of June, said Dash’s counsel Pitambar Acharya.
Following his suspension, Dash alleged that he has been a victim of growing intolerance & undue influence of non-Odia officers in state bureaucracy and governance.
“I may have been suspended for being a dignified Odia officer and second reason is intolerance. Has my department ever complained that I am not performing my duties?” Dash had earlier stated.
