Bhubaneswar: A day after the former Orissa skipper Pravanjan Mallik was sent to jail here for allegedly assaulting his wife Sini Mohanty, the latter has come up with fresh allegations.

The estranged wife of the cricketer has alleged that Pravanjan’ family members are threatening her to compromise the case. However, former Ranji captain’s members have refuted the allegations.

Speaking to mediapersons, Rini said, there is no question of compromise. Mohanty has informed the police regarding this.

“That is only a bail petition not a compromise petition. I have mentioned that he should be granted bail but I haven’t dropped the charges. His brother Manoranjan Mallik threatened me following which I informed the police,” Sini Mohanty said.

On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused said, we are unable to establish Sini’s intentions as she filed a petition in the court seeking compromise after sending her husband behind bars.

“The case will continue however he will be granted bail,” Pravanjan’s lawyer Rajendra Kumar Khuntia said.

“She intends to extract money from us. There is threat to our lives as she may do anything at any point of time, Pravanjan’s brother-in-law Santosh Kumar Mohanty said.

Earlier yesterday, the cricketer was forwarded to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by a local court. Pravanjan was arrested by city police on Monday for allegedly beating his wife on Valentines Day.
