Bhadrak: A mobile shop owner in Bhadrak district of Odisha has been earning praise from all for showing exemplary honesty by making tremendous efforts to return Rs 20,000 in cash he found inside an ATM kiosk to its rightful owner.

Nalinikanta Panda, who owns a mobile shop near Bhadrak College, found the cash lying on the disbursal tray of the ATM kiosk located adjacent to his shop. While many would have preferred to pocket the cash and maintain silence, Panda began to worry about the person who left the ATM without taking the cash.

It is suspected that someone might have tried to withdraw cash from the ATM and left the place in a hurry after the cash disposal got delayed.

After reportedly making several attempts to trace the bank customer who dropped the cash, Panda thought to use the power of social media to reach out to the owner of the cash. He has posted a message on the social media about the cash and asked the person to visit his shop to collect the lost money. However so far no one has turned up to claim the cash.

“I have decided to submit an application in the local police station in this regard. I will also submit a copy of the application to the local bank manager and hand over the cash. The bank manager will trace the owner and take steps to return the cash,” said Panda.
