Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted Rs 23 lakh by breaking the iron chest of the regional transport office here on Thursday night, according to an official.

“I got to know about the theft late last night. We suspect an insider’s hand in this,” Bhubaneswar RTO Lalmohan Sethi said adding the incident could have happened between 9.30 to 10 pm.

According to the official police will examine finger prints on the iron chest to identify the culprits.

When asked about the security arrangements in the office, Sethi said, “We have our routine security in the office but during the shift change of security guards the incident has happened. So we suspect an insider’s hand in the case”.
