Phulbani: A Maoist was arrested from his house at Kerubadi village near Daringbadi in Kandhamal district, police said. The rebel, Jagannath Gantayat, was involved in Maoist activities for the last couple of months and had acted as an informer, police said.

CRPF and Special Operations Group force while returning from combing operation had an encounter with armed Maoists in Kerubadi forest on September 24 and had seized 3 guns, a laptop, batteries, tiffin bombs and naxal uniform. Three people were arrested on charge of supporting the Maoists after that incident.

Combing operation has been going on in Daringbadi, Baminigam, Kerubadi, Kotagarh, Tumudibandha areas by CRPF, SOG, India Reserve battalion and other armed forces since last month, sub-divisional police officer (Baliguda) Satya Ranjan Mallick said.
