Bargarh: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a man was killed by an elephant at Padampur village under Kandadangar panchayat in the district late night on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhoba Nayak, who was a member of the village panchayat samiti.

According to sources, Nayak was attacked while stopping the animal from entering into his paddy field.

After getting information about the incident, police and forest department officials reached the spot for investigation.

In a similar incident, a farmer was trampled to death by a herd of elephants at Modipara village under Rajgangpur forest division in Sundergarh yesterday. After getting information, forest department personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

In a separate incident, panic gripped Kalunga area near Rourkela yesterday as around 10 elephants entered a saw mill in Kalunga Industrial Estate.
