Bhubaneswar: As many as seven vehicles were gutted in a major fire mishap at an apartment building in the capital city late on Friday night.

According to sources, a fire broke out at the parking lot of Heritage building in Jagannath Nagar of Jharpada area late on Friday night. At least two cars and five bikes parked on the spot were gutted.

Soon after the incident, a fire tender rushed to the spot and it took nearly an hour for the Odisha Fire Services personnel to douse the flames.

Eye witnesses said a major tragedy was averted as the fire tenders timely removed a LPG cylinder from a burning car.

Residents of the apartment have lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident. They said that two security guards deployed at the building were missing after the incident and suspect that it could be the handiwork of some mischief mongers.
