Bhubaneswar: Demanding execution of the Lower Suktel Project, the Lower Suktel Action Committee (LSAC) has called for a Bolangir bandh on Tuesday.

Private institutions and government offices including the district Collectorate and banks will remain closed, said a member of LSAC, which has been spearheading a movement to expedite the project work.

However, the committee has decided to keep school, college and court out of the purview of the shut-down. This is a different kind of bandh as the LSAC has decided not to create inconvenience to shops and traffic movement.

Though March 31 has been fixed as the deadline, the state government is yet to start the project work, said sources.

Meanwhile, the committee has threatened to intensify its stir if the project work does not start by March 18.

Once completed the project will irrigate 31,000 hectare of land in drought-prone Bolangir and Subarnapur districts.
