Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is lying over coastal Odisha which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall accompanied by strong surface winds in some areas of the state in the next two days, the met office said today.
 
Under the impact of the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha-Gangetic-West Bengal coast rain and thundershower would occur atmostplaces in the state with heavy to very heavy rainfall occurring at some places in the coastal areas, it said.
 
Extremely heavy rainfall (more than 25 cm) is expected at one or two places over the south-interior districts and heavy rainfall over north interior districts in the next two days, it said.
 
Strong surface wind speeds reaching 45to 55 kmph from the northeasterly direction might prevail along and off the coast, while the sea condition would be rough to very rough.
 
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as a precaution.
