Locals lock up teacher for allegedly misbehaving with school girl

Rayagada: Tension erupted at Badahuma School in Godari village of the district after locals locked up a teacher inside the school building for allegedly misbehaving with a girl student today.

According to sources, the teacher Rabit Bidika had allegedly misbehaved with the girl of the village when she was alone in the school yesterday.

After the girl informed about the incident, her family members and other locals of the village stormed into the school and locked up the accused teacher.

As police reached the spot and initiated a probe, the accused teacher clarified that he had done nothing wrong with the girl.

“Today since MDM was not given to the students, I asked the girl to stay a little late so that she can take her biscuit packet, but I have no idea about the allegations levelled by the girl,” said the teacher.

Asked about the incident, Block Education Officer Prasanna Nayak said "I have recorded the written statements of both the teacher and student and necessary action will be taken after a probe into the incident.”
