Kendrapara: The Biju Janata Dal`s Kendrapara town unit has lodged an FIR in the Town police station after some unidentified persons set fire to the party office in ward number 21 of the municipality. The BJD too has urged the State Election Commissioner to intervene in the matter.

With barely 24 hours left for polling to elect the ward members of the oldest municipality in the state, all the three major political parties including the NCP which has ties up with the Congress, have geared up their entire political machineries to grab the municipality. While BJD and BJP had an alliance last time, this time both the parties are fighting it out as rivals. Meanwhile, in an interesting development which might have some impact on the election results, gangster-turned-politician Tito alias Usman Ali`s Baldev Jew Labour Union has announced to support the Congress in the election.

The Congress party has filed complaints against cabinet minister Sarada Nayak and BJD MAL Alekh Jena for indulging in manipulative activities to influence voters. But the two BJD leaders have denied to comments on the allegations.
