Cuttack: Senior IPS officer K B Singh, a 1985-batch officer, joined as the Vigilance Director of State here today.
 
He was given a guard of honour here in the morning and senior officers of different wings of the anti-corruption wing met Singh. He was congratulated upon his assumption of the charge of an important post of the State police department.
 
An M Sc from Gorakhpur University, the ADG-rank officer started his career as SDPO Berhampur in 1987 and served as the SP of Berhampur, Nuapada, Nawarangpur and Koraput. He also had a stint in Special Branch during this period before he served as DIG of PMT, Intelligence and Eastern Range at Balasore.
 
Recipient of President?s Police medal for both meritorious service and distinguished service, Singh went to Center on deputation in 2006 and served in ITBP till he returned to the State in December 2012 when he was working as IGP of ITBP in its headquarters at New Delhi.
 
Upon his return to the State, he was promoted to the rank of ADG and was serving as Director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy as ADG (training) before assuming the coveted post here.
