Kendrapara: Three bike-borne miscreants allegedly looted cash and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from a jewellery shop owner after attacking him and his relatives in Pattamundai area of Kendrapara district last night.

The incident took place when Bijaya Sahu, who owns a jewellery shop at Babar Bazaar in Mahakalpara, was returning home with his son and brother after closing his shop. Three miscreants on a bike stalked them and waylaid them near Khadianta Square.

The trio then attacked Sahu and his kin with sharp weapons and also threatened to kill them when they tried to resist. Later, the miscreants snatched cash and jewelleries from them and fled.

Laxmidhar Sahu, the brother of Bijay, who sustained injured in the attack said, “After intercepting us on the way, one of the miscreants held us at gunpoint and threatened to kill us. When we resisted them, another miscreant attacked us with a sharp weapon.”

A complaint has been lodged at Pattamundai police station in this regard following which the police reached the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
