Paradip: Tension prevailed on the premises of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district after the body of a labourer was found hanging inside the refinery campus on Saturday.
 
Around 12 labourers were allegedly injured in a tiff between angry workers of the refinery and CISF jawans following the incident. The agitated workers were demanding compensation for the family of the deceased, who has been identifed as Sanjay Patra of Trilochanpur area, said sources.
 
Paradip SDPO Bhawani Shankar Mishra said, “First we would conduct a post-mortem of the dead body.  After that we will be able to ascertain the cause of the death.” Two platoons of forces have been deployed at the tension zone apprehending possible untoward situation, Mishra added.
 
Meanwhile, IOCL refinery’s DGM NK Das said, “Yes, there was a scuffle between police and workers. To disperse the angry mob, police resorted to lathicharge and brought the situation under control.”
