Sambalpur: The district police has apprehended one hardcore Maoist Aarta Bhoi and recovered 10 detonators, fuse wires, batteries used for explosive preparations and one mobile set. The police too has seized cash worth Rs.5000 and some Maoist fatigues. According to the district police, about 15 cases were pending against Aarta in different police stations. Police suspected that he was involved in the attack on the camp of ARSS private construction company on October 25.

Police said that Aarta was earlier nabbed in 2005 for his indulgence in Maoist activities and he was released on bail in 2009. He was residing at his native Barley village under Jujumara police station. Aarta after remaining silent for some months, again took active participation in the red organisation following the recent spurt in Maoist activities in Sambalpur district.

The superintendent of police, Sambalpur, Nikhil Kanodia said that the left wing ultras resorted to large scale arson in the ARSS camp since the supervisor didi not turn up to surrender the booty demanded by the Naxals. He said that Aaarta too was involved in the attack on a police party that took place just the next day after the ARSS incident.
