Bhubaneswar: A Congress leader from Ranga Reddy district of Telangana has brought graft charges against Sagar, son of senior party leader and AICC screening committee chairman from Odisha, Bhakta Charan Das.

Ranga Reddy district Congress committee president Kyama Mallesh on Wednesday alleged that the Congress leader’s son had demanded Rs 3 crore from him for the party ticket to contest from Ibrahimpatnam constituency.

Mallesh also released an audio tape of the conversation which he said, proves his charges of Bhakta’s son Sagar demanding money for giving him the party ticket.

Responding to the allegations, Bhakta Das termed it as a conspiracy while his son is being made a scapegoat.

“The allegations are completely baseless. K Mallesh had applied for a party ticket but the seat went to grand alliance. As the chairman of the AICC screening committee, I had no role as everything was finalised by PCC president and other leaders. I would quit politics if anybody proves that I have taken even Rs 5 from anyone,” said Das.
