Bhubaneswar: Signaling tough action, the state government asked the OAS officers to submit property list latest by June 15 failing which stern departmental action would be initiated, official sources said on Wednesday.

In a written communiqué to principal secretaries of all departments, Revenue Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors, the Revenue Department issued letters of warning through their controlling officers directing them to submit their property statements (up to 31.12.2008) on or before June 15 failing which departmental proceedings would be initiated against them.

As per sources, as many as 397 OAS-I (JB) officers have never submitted their property list as per OGSC Rules 1959. A list in this regard has also been published in the website of Revenue & DM Department.

“Disciplinary action would be taken against the OAS officers if they fail to submit their property details within these 15 days. However, their names have been published in the website and the district collectors have been asked to warn them,” Revenue Minister Surya Narayan Patra said.

Besides this, 103 OAS officers have submitted their property statement in past but have failed to submit their latest property statement as due on 31.12.2008.

On the other hand, IAS officers have also submitted their property statement whose deadline ended on May 31. However, some officers are yet to submit their statement to the Centre.

“Most of the IAS officers have submitted their property details that have already been sent to the Centre,” Chief Secretary Bijay Patnaik said.

It may be mentioned here that there are 984 OAS and 158 state cadre IAS officers in the state.
