Bhubaneswar: Former Kakatpur MLA, Rabi Mallick today quit from the primary membership of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and also tendered his resignation as the member of the State Planning Board in Bhubaneswar.

The former legislator blamed ignorance by party leadership as reason behind his resignation from the BJD.

"BJD had ignored me in 2014 and is also ignoring me again now in 2019. After working for the party for nearly 25 years, leaders like me have not been give enough recognition within the party while newcomers who have been inducted into the party fold are being given too much importance. So what is the point in staying within such a party," said Mallick.

Speculations are doing rounds that after quitting the ruling party, Mallick who was denied ticket from Kakatpur for the upcoming polls, might join BJP. The saffron party might also field Mallick from his own constituency.

However, Rabi informed that he has not made any final decision in this regard.

"I will consult my supporters and well wishers before deciding on what to do in the future," said Mallick.
