Cuttack: Three foetuses were today recovered from a drain in front of the Sarala Bhawan near Biju Pattanaik Chhak. The foetuses were packed inside three plastic containers. The district collector S N Girish has assured to probe the matter.
The residents of the areas around Biju Pattnaik Chhak started gathering near the drain in front of Sarala Bhawan seeing the three plastic containers. Three dead foetuses were packed inside the containers.
Serious questions are being raised to know the gender of the foetuses. Doubts prevailed whether those were female foetuses. Were the female foetuses dumped after abortions? The district administration has swung into action to conduct an inquiry.
Cases of foeticide in the past, especially female foeticide, have raised sensation in the state. Several questions were raised after about 30 female foetuses were recovered in Nayagarh in 2007. The latest incident in Cuttack city has again raised many an eye-brow.
