Dhenkanal: A 15-day-old elephant calf was rescued by forest officials from Nuakaluria village near Sadangi reserve forest, official sources said today. The calf was spotted by local villagers after a herd of elephant passed through the Sandangi reserve forests yesterday.

On being informed, forest officials reached the spot and sent the animal to the Kapilas rescue centre for care and treatment. Following information that the elephant herd was moving near Rupabali forests, the calf was released in the same area, they said.
