Cracks Develop On Newly Inaugurated Bridge Over Mahanadi River

Sambalpur: The newly inaugurated high-level bridge over Mahanadi river connecting Nelson Mandela chowk to Chaurpur in Sambalpur, has reportedly developed cracks.

Local residents alleged that the newly constructed bridge developed cracks due to poor quality of work. Besides, they demanded action against the officials and agencies who executed the project work.

“We were so happy when the bridge was inaugurated but now we are scared that it may collapse anytime. It is substandard quality of work and the project was completed in a hurry," alleged Saswat Panda, a native of Sambalpur town.

"A probe should be initiated into the matter and action should be taken against the accused as there have been massive irregularities," alleged another local.

Response of the concerned officials over the matter is yet to be obtained. State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated the bridge on February 1, 2019.
