Contraband items seized from jail inmates

Cuttack: A team of police headed by city DCP conducted a surprise raid on Choudwar circle jail here in the wee hours of Sunday and seized a plethora of objective items including intoxicants and cash from the prisoners.

Acting on the demands of public, DCP Sanjeev Arrora accompanied by additional collector of the city Laxmidhara Mohanty, four ACPs, 20 Inspectors and five platoons of police raided the jail and seized contraband items, bidis, cigarettes, a mobile phone, a SIM card, a charger and cash of Rs 11,000 cash.

“This is a general routine work. Besides the restricted materials, we also seized some tablets, lighters, tobaccos and narcotics, informed Arrora.
