Bhubaneswar: In what could be a big setback for the Odisha unit of Congress ahead of 2019 elections, Jharsuguda MLA and party leader Naba Das today hinted that he may join BJD on January 24.

In an exclusive interview to OTV, Das said, “My supporters have urged me to fight the 2019 elections from BJD and and I will do what my people want."

Even though Das did not clear when he will quit the Congress party and join the BJD camp, he said that during CM Naveen's visit to Jharsuguda to inaugurate a cancer hospital on January 24, he will welcome the CM and accept the wish of his people.

Das further added that he respects Congress president Rahul Gandhi and state unit chief Niranjan Patnaik but he has no specific reason to quit Congress party.

Earlier on Friday, the Congress leader had said he will fight the upcoming elections with a Congress ticket.
