Bargarh: The Congress MLA from Atabira Nihar Ranjan Mohananda has filed a police complaint alleging that supporters of local BJD leader Snehangini Chhuria attacked him and his supporters at Jamjod Square while they were returning from village Sankida. Accrding to the FIR lodged by the MLA, some of his supporters and Congress workers sustained injuries during the attack.

The Congress and the ruling BJD have been at logger`s head for some months now. Tension escalated between the two rival groups over the recent foundation stone laying ceremony of the fair weather road over river Jeera. The foundation for the fair weather road was laid recently by the chief minister. After the foundation laying ceremony, the MLA and his supporters were irritated over the fact that BJD workers had destroyed posters and banners containing the name of the Congress leader. The MLA even had lodged a complaint in the Bheden police station regarding the incident.

Interestingly, while the Congress MLA laid the foundation on October 30, the BJD leader Snehangini followed suit the next day leading to tension between the two rival groups. No arrests howevr has been made so far and the area remained tense.
