Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a new cardiology department and cardiac catheterisation laboratory at the Capital Hospital here.

Capital Hospital here is the largest hospital in the peripheral health services of the state and caters service to the people of Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri districts and parts of Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts.

The new cardiology building made at a cost of Rs 5 crore, is equipped with the new out patient department block.

The department will be able to provide all the non- invasive cardiac services like, echocardiography, TMT, ECG and Holter Monitoring of the patients comparatively with much lesser amount what they had to bear in private hospitals under one roof along with the Cardiology OPD in a patient friendly environment, chief minister said.

The Cardiac catheterization laboratory is having the state of the art machine and this model machine has recently being installed in all the three medical colleges of the state at the cost of about 3.5 crore each, official sources said.
