Balasore: Normal life in Bhograi block was badly affected today due to the dawn to dusk shut down call given by the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in demand of a judicial probe into the group clashes at Chandaneswar during the last day of the Chadak yatra. Vehicular movements in most parts of the Bhograi block came to a grinding halt while shops and business establishments in Chadaneswar, on Digha border and Udayapur Baxar remained opened partially.

The block committee leaders of the Congress on Friday condemned the police for resorting to lathi-charge on the devotees during the Chadak yatra and demanded a judicial inquiry of the incident. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already ordered for an administrative probe of the incident and has asked the Revenue Divisional Commissioner of the Central Division to submit the inquiry report within 60 days. Six policemen including four constables have already been put under suspension in this connection.
