Saswat Singhdeo

Bhubaneswar: All the nationalised banks will remain closed for four consecutive days from today in Odisha. On the occasion of Saraswati Puja today, banks will remain shut.

Similarly, due to a 2-day strike called by United Forum of Bank Unions(UFBU) across the country to press for early wage revision, no banking operation will be done on January 31 and February 1. Later, on February 2 i.e on Sunday, banks will remain closed due to weekly holiday. In the above mentioned period, customers will not be able to get any banking service directly from the branches of the nationalised banks.

"Demanding fulfilment of 12-point charter of demands, we have called for strike on January 31 and February 1. If the issues are not resolved then we will call for strike again in the month of March for 3 days," said Convenor of UFBU, Samit Mishra.

UFBU is an umbrella body of the nine bank unions including All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW).
