3 killed, 16 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha
Sundergarh/Nayagarh: As many as three persons were killed while 16 others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps in Sundergarh and Nayagarh districts.
In Sundergarh, at least three persons were killed and two other sustained critical injuries after they were hit by a speeding SUV near Telanadihi village in Lephripara area of the district on Monday.
As per reports, the victims were residents of Kurei village under Balisankara block. They had come to Telanadihi village to attend an engagement function. The mishap occurred while they were standing near the road, informed sources.
The injured were immediately rushed to District Headquarters hospital (DHH), where they are undergoing treatment, added sources.
The driver of the SUV fled the spot soon after the mishap.
In another mishap, 10 persons were injured while four others suffered critical injuries in a bus accident near Takara village under Dasapalla block of Nayagarh today morning. The bus carrying nearly 70 passengers was travelling from Bolangir to Puri.
According to sources, the bus rammed into two road side cabin shops after its driver lost control over the vehicle. Following the mishap, the injured were immediately rushed to Dasapalla hospital.
After getting information, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
